Getting back into the card game

sk3kThose that may know me know that I have had an on-off interest over the years in collecting sports cards.
I was really into collecting Topps Baseball Cards when I was a little kid and had most of the 1990-91 NY Rangers Team Set in NHL Pro Set back in the day.
I mostly stopped with trading cards around 1995-96 due to factors, getting older and moving on to different hobbies along with the '94 baseball strike.
I got back into cards around 2003 when I found out about the concept of Jersey Cards and thought it was awesome that you could put part of a players jersey and embed it right into a trading card.
I had a lot of sorted Jersey Cards that I collected over the timeframe of around maybe 2003-2011. I had around maybe close to 200-300 of them that I acquired in packs or at card shows in the NY/LI area. However, once again I stopped because of me moving on to collecting in other areas of interest for me (mainly video games).
Now over the last two-three weeks, I've found myself getting the urge to get back in the game because I am prepping for MLB Spring Training in Florida and I'm trying to get some different cards to prep for it.
I've been going to different card stores in the area which was something that I didn't do back in the time that I started collecting Jersey Cards because I mostly did bought my stuff on eBay and I wasn't able to drive to a store back then since I had no license.
Now that I've been going to hobby stores for the first time in probably almost 15-20 years, it's actually fun to talk about your interest in this stuff with the store owners and various people that come into the store to get whatever they need.
And at least I'm trying to get stuff of players that I like and to see if I can get them at a decent price. I got a Cert Autographed JC of Doc Gooden from Donruss '04 or '05 at a shop for $10.
The following day in an assorted Game Used/Autographed Blind Box pile, I pulled an Alex Rodriguez Upper Deck Game Used Bat Card from 2000 with the Mariners. Getting those items recaptured the joy to me as to why I love collecting and made me feel for the first time in a long time that there's a reason why I love to collect.
